Selecting and Evaluating Children's Literature

Questions to consider:

  • What kind of illustrations does the book have?
  • What kind of language is used? How much text do you see?  
  • Who is represented in the story? How are they represented? 
  • What kind of message(s) is the book trying to communicate?  
  • Who wrote the book and why?
  • When was the book written?
