October marks the end of Hispanic / Latin@ Heritage Month on the 15th, the commemoration of Indigenous Peoples' Day on the 9th, and spookiness all month long as we head toward Halloween! In this month's newsletter we're sharing resources on all of these celebrations and more. Stop by and visit us on the 5th floor. The Library offers services and resources for all of the HWC community including research assistance, access to course textbooks, books for research or for leisure reading, a quiet space to study, curriculum support, and much more. Our Fall 2023 hours of operation are Monday - Thursday from 8AM to 8PM and Friday from 8AM to 4PM.
Please note that the library will be closed on Monday, October 9th in observance of Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Textbook didn't arrive in time for the first day of class? Not able to purchase a copy of a textbook you need this semester? Did you know that the HWC Library has a collection of current textbooks (also known as our Course Reserves)? Stop by to find out if the Library has what you are looking for. While items in Course Reserve cannot be taken out of the library, we have copiers and scanners available if you need specific chapters in class or at home. Please keep in mind that there may be instances in which the Library does not have a textbook being used in the current semester. Visit us for more information.
Ceramics, Introduction to Small Business Management, and Foundations of Scripting Languages are just a few of the courses currently offered through HWC's Continuing Education Program. Ever wonder what continuing education at the City Colleges looked like in the past? A search in the library's ProQuest Historical Newspapers database revealed that continuing education offerings looked quite different decades ago! Check out our historical newspaper databases for primary materials as well as a blast from the past. The CCC Libraries provide access to the Chicago Tribune (1849-1998), the Chicago Tribune (1985-current), the Chicago Defender (1909-2010), and other national newspapers through ProQuest's U.S. Newsstream (1980-current).
Kanopy is one of the CCC Libraries' streaming databases. Visit the Kanopy database to search for movies by title or browse their selection.
