HWC-OER GRANT: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion: Support Resources

Resources to support pedagogy

Please find here additional external resources to assist in including DEI pedagogy in the classroom.

1. University of Michigan, "Practicing Anti-Racist Pedagogy": "The purpose of this page is to provide instructors tools and resources to practice anti-racist pedagogy. Practicing anti-racist pedagogy does not entail seeking out a final destination where we can claim to have done all the necessary work to be anti-racist teachers. It is a lifelong, ongoing process in which we practice self-reflexivity, seek to disrupt racism in all contexts (personal, interpersonal, institutional, cultural), and maintain that our classroom spaces are not apolitical. We offer this page as a place for those who are exploring anti-racist pedagogy for the first time and for those who are looking to engage further in this practice."

2. The Ohio State University Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, Implicit Bias Module Series: "This course will introduce you to insights about how our minds operate and help you understand the origins of implicit associations. You will also uncover some of your own biases and learn strategies for addressing them. Each module is divided into a short series of lessons, many taking less than 10 minutes to complete. That way, even if you’re pressed for time, you can complete the lessons and modules at your convenience."

3. BU Center for Antiracist Research: "The mission of the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research is to convene researchers and practitioners from various disciplines to figure out novel and practical ways to understand, explain, and solve seemingly intractable problems of racial inequity and injustice. We foster exhaustive racial research, research-based policy innovation, data-driven educational and advocacy campaigns, and narrative-change initiatives. We are working toward building an antiracist society that ensures equity and justice for all."

4. American University in Washington Antiracist Research & Policy Center: "The Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University generates scholarly research, educational tools, and policy analysis geared towards dismantling racism in its many forms. We build multidisciplinary initiatives for fostering racial justice, decolonial politics, and intersectional liberation by forging relationships across AU and with external changemakers in the DC region and beyond."
