Libby

Learn about using Libby to access audiobooks and ebooks!

Using Libby on your phone or computer

With the Libby app, you can borrow audiobooks and ebooks from your library. All you need is your CCC username and password.

  • Most books have a default checkout period of 21 days. Books can be renewed or returned early (so the next reader can read it). If someone else has the book you want, you can place a hold. You will be notified when the book is available to check out. You can place a hold on ten (10) books at a time, and check out up to 5.
  • CCC is accessing this great service through our consortium, NILRC (Network of Illinois Learning Resources in Community Colleges). When you search for your college library (City Colleges of Chicago), you'll be connected to NILRC. This partnership enables a larger selection of audiobooks & ebooks!
  • You can also use Libby at Chicago Public Library if you sign up for a library eCard from Chicago Public Library
  • You can browse, check out and read books online at https://libbyapp.com/library/nilrc or you can use the Libby app on your mobile device. Download the Libby app to your Mac OS or Android smartphone or tablet. Many books are available in Kindle Book, ePub, and OverDrive Read file types.
  • You can also find and access titles through the CCC Library search bar

  3. In the app, tap the menu, select Add a library, enter "City Colleges of Chicago."
  4. Select NILRC Academic Shared Digital Collection
  5. You'll be taken to NILRC's OverDrive page and it will now be in your library list.
  6. Tap the Sign-in button and choose your sign-in option.  Make sure to select KEEP ME SIGNED IN ON THIS DEVICE if you are the only user of the device.
