What is the largest classroom in the building? The library, of course! Located on the 5th floor, the HWC Library offers services and resources for all of the HWC community including research assistance, access to course textbooks, books for research or for leisure reading, a quiet space to study, curriculum support, and much more. We are located on the 5th floor of the College. Our Fall 2024 hours of operation are Monday - Thursday from 8AM to 8PM and Friday from 8AM to 4PM. Whether remote or in person, we wish you a successful and fulfilling semester and look forward to seeing you.
The CCC Libraries have transitioned to a new library system called Primo. Through Primo, you can:
Want to learn more about how to use Primo? Visit the HWC Library and speak with a librarian!
Textbook didn't arrive in time for the first day of class? Not able to purchase a copy of a textbook you need this semester? Did you know that the HWC Library has a collection of current textbooks (also known as our Course Reserves)? Stop by to find out if the Library has what you are looking for. While items in Course Reserve cannot be taken out of the library, we have copiers and scanners available if you need specific chapters in class or at home. Please keep in mind that there may be instances in which the Library does not have a textbook being used in the current semester. Visit us for more information.
The Libby app provides access to audiobooks, ebooks, and magazines. Read about the Libby app and download it to your device. If you are already using the Libby app through the Chicago Public Library, you can add your CCC library account to access holdings from both libraries. Need assistance? See a librarian!
Look for the pop-up library on the first floor next to the escalators from 10:00AM to 1:00PM on the following dates:
Wednesday, 9/4
If you are a returning student, you may notice that printing has changed in the library. There are two printer / copiers installed at the front of the library, across from the circulation desk, where print jobs sent from library computers can be released. CCC users should have received an email with a pin code (search your inbox for "Uniflow" to find the email). You can also find this information by logging into your Uniflow account. Your pin code can be connected to your CCC identification card so that logging into print jobs requires just the tap of your ID card. For more information or help printing, see a library staff member.

Hi everyone! I’m Annette, and I’m really excited to be joining the Harold Washington Library team. I am a proud Harold Washington College alum. I’ve spent some time at the Chicago Public Library and have a background in urban planning from DePaul University, so I’ve got a big passion for how libraries fit into our cities and communities. I’m a huge fan of books about urban spaces, like Naked City by Sharon Zukin, which is a personal favorite. Outside of work, I’m a cat enthusiast—my cat, Gus, is pretty much my partner in crime. When I’m not hanging out with him, I’m either watching movies or planning my next travel adventure. Swing by the library and say hi!
Hi! My name is Zerdali, and I am currently in the process of getting my MLIS degree from Chicago State University. I graduated from HWC in 2021 and received a Mathematics degree from Smith College in May of this year. My favorite book genres are Romance, Thriller/Mystery, and Memoirs, so if you need a recommendation (or have one!) please let me know! I am so excited to be back in Chicago and meet everyone who comes into the library. Hope to see you soon. 🙂
