Kurt Vonnegut: 100th Birthday

Shelf Talker

Erika L. Sánchez, the award-winning author of I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter, is back with Crying in the Bathroom, a memoir about generational trauma, mental illness, feminism, and carving her own path in life. The book follows her from her childhood in Cicero to a fellowship at Harvard and the success of her debut YA novel in 2017. She writes about her experiences, alternating the painful and the hilarious, with honesty and hope. This memoir is highly recommended for fans of memoir, autobiography, personal essays, or Latina/x literature, and 100% recommended for first and second generation college students and immigrants / children of immigrants. -- Celia C. Perez, HWC Librarian
