Legal Research

FindLaw: Free educational resource to learn about most legal topics. Also provides legal information broken down by state. 

Justia: Free educational resource containing legal guides, legal research (including US case law at both the federal and state level). It also provides an index with links to US and State Courts.

Legal Information Institute (Cornell University): Website supported by Cornell University that publishes federal and state regulations as well as Executive Orders. It also provides information on a variety of common legal topics.

Law.com: Media platform providing 18+ legal publications. Addresses news, rankings, reports, and strategy. 

Oyez: A free law project provided by Cornell University and Chicago-Kent College of Law, Oyez is devoted to publishing accessible information on the Supreme Court of the United States.

 

Paralegal Professional Association Websites

The following organizations are local and national associations to support the career development and professionalization of the paralegal profession. The provide advocacy, continuing education, and networking opportunities. Many of these organization also provide employment opportunities.

Chicago Paralegal Association: Professional organization supporting paralegals in Chicago.

National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA): Provides members with continuing education and professional development opportunities, in addition to professional networking.

American Bar Association: Professional organization for all legal professionals. Provides career guidance (and search options), advocacy, networking, and continuing education opportunities.

National Federation of Paralegal Associations: A national organization that advocates for and promote the professionalization of the paralegals role within the legal industry.
