Marking Items for Display

  1. Log in to Alma
    1. This link will take you to the CCC authentication page to enter your CCC credentials (screenshot: https://app.screencast.com/hL1qqH39mQ82T) to access Alma.
    2. Do not attempt to log in if you get a page that looks like this (screenshot: https://app.screencast.com/xKIJVp4L9PlLH). This link will not allow you to use your CCC credentials.
    3. For the "I am physically at" prompt, select Truman Circulation Desk from the drop-down menu.
  2. In Alma, select Physical items and then barcode from the drop-downs for the search bar at the top of the page; scan the barcode of the item.
  3. When the item record displays, click on Edit Item at the right of the entry.
  4. Scroll down to "Temporary Location Information" and toggle "Item is in temporary location" to Yes
  5. From the "Temporary Location" menu, select Harry S Truman College Library: Harry S Truman Display (ccctrdsp). (If the item was previously displayed, the temporary location will already be ccctrdsp, so you will only have to select Yes in step 4).
  6. Hit Save in the upper right of the screen.
  7. Repeat steps 3-6 for other books being put on display.
  8. When removing an item from display, simply follow steps 1-4, but toggle the temporary location to No, and save the change. Place the items in a location to be reshelved.

Withdrawal Process (Weeding)

  3. When the record is showing, click Withdraw at the right of the record.
  4. Click Confirm in the pop up window.
  5. If the item you're working with is the last copy, you will get another pop up window that says "Last Item of this Holdings Deleted." Select the radio button for Delete bibliographic record (unless other holdings are present) and click the Go button.
  6. After this process is complete, use a wide permanent marker to draw a line through the barcode and place an X over the spine label.
    1. If the book is destined for the free carts at the front of the library, take them to Circ staff for desensitization and stamping. Circ staff will handle things from here.
    2. If the book is to be discarded, coordinate with David or Katie to do so.
  7. To withdraw another item, hit the X at the right of the search bar and scan another barcode to start the process again.
