Harold Washington College Library: Library Mission

Library Mission Statement

The Harold Washington College Library supports the mission of the College to uphold high institutional and academic standards and to understand and improve student learning by offering a variety of services and resources designed to support the curriculum and to foster the life-long learning pursuits of the HWC community.

The Library will accomplish its mission by:

Providing instruction that promotes the development of information literacy skills, "the set of skills needed to find, retrieve, analyze, and use information," through one-on-one reference interviews, formal class-centered bibliographic instruction, and special topic workshops, as well as through additional resources available on the library's Webpage and in print.
