Library Mission Statement

The Harold Washington College Library supports the mission of the College to uphold high institutional and academic standards and to understand and improve student learning by offering a variety of services and resources designed to support the curriculum and to foster the life-long learning pursuits of the HWC community. 

The Library will accomplish its mission by:            

Providing instruction that promotes the development of information literacy skills, "the set of skills needed to find, retrieve, analyze, and use information," through one-on-one reference interviews, formal class-centered bibliographic instruction, and special topic workshops, as well as through additional resources available on the library's Webpage and in print.
